By 2030, the demand for water in the East of England is set to outstrip supply.
To secure the region's water future over the next 25 years, Anglian Water is delivery the Strategic Pipeline Alliance.
The SPA is the largest environmental project in Europe, which will see the water management organisation install hundreds of kilometers of underground, large diameter, interconnect pipelines stretching from North Lincolnshire to Essex.
This new drinking water grid will allow the transfer of 15-55 million liters of water daily from wetter to drier areas across the region. It aims to tackle the oncoming water shortage issues, improving the security of the water supply and reducing the dependency on a single source.
Given the scale and complexity of the project, the team working to install this new drinking water grid are navigating some of the most challenging ground conditions in the UK. This is where The Rollaway comes in.
What solution did we provide?
Anglian Water asked us to supply the Rollaway to support the Bexwell to Isleham (B2I) pipeline project, a key part of the SPA initiative.
The team originally ordered three 5m Rollaway portable safety stairs from us, but were so impressed with the product – its lightweight design, portability, and cost-effectiveness – that they quickly came back to order three more.
They were particularly impressed by the way we worked; anticipating the order date even when facing payment and procurement challenges on their end to ensure that after payment was confirmed, the product was with them in just a few days.
What was the result?
The Rollaway provided exactly what Anglian Water needed for this part of the project – a safer, more efficient way for their team to complete work on this important project to meet their requirements and timelines.
